Alterations Explained: Getting the Perfect Fit for Your Wedding Day
People often think the hard part of wedding dress shopping is choosing the gown. In truth, the magic happens afterwards in the atelier. Alterations are what turn a beautiful dress into your dress.
What we can do
Our alterations service covers hems, take-ins, bustles, re-sizing, re-shaping, straps, boning, repairs, lace-up inserts, zip replacements and a final steam press. We work on bridal gowns, bridesmaids and formal gowns, and we are happy to alter gowns purchased elsewhere too.
How many fittings will I need?
Most brides need two to three fittings. The first is about getting the structure right, the next refines the fit, and the final fitting is where we perfect the details and teach whoever is helping you how to do up your bustle on the day.
Bring your shoes
The single most useful thing you can do is bring the shoes you will actually wear. Hem length depends entirely on your shoes, so wearing them to your fittings means your gown will sit perfectly when you walk down the aisle. Learn more about our team on the about page, or contact us to book.
